The General Maintenance Technician 2 responds to work orders for the repair of College buildings, equipment, and facilities. Daily performs a variety of mechanical maintenance duties. Performs various moderate to advanced duties related to the maintenance and repair of commercial facilities. Runs diagnostic tests and makes minor repairs and/or assists with major repairs to boilers, chillers, HVAC, airflow, electrical equipment, structural, painting, and plumbing.
The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel and on-call rotation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors physical plant equipment using building automation systems. Troubleshoots and performs moderate repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment. Performs daily inspections to ensure equipment operates efficiently
- Works with various vendors and contractors to establish and meet Organizational, Safety, and Health Administration (OSHA) and Arizona Department of Occupational Safety and Health standards and criteria
- Operates, maintains, and cleans equipment associated with assigned areas of responsibility including wheeled vehicles. Inspects and services facilities and systems on a periodic schedule
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and proper manner to support maintenance and repair activities
- Performs moderate to advanced repairs or installations depending on area of assignment and expertise
- Provides support to Trades Specialists for preventative maintenance checks and services on all college equipment, including inspections and repairs for structural elements, paint, plumbing, HVAC and electrical
- Works independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks. Provides training and mentorship to less experienced staff to promote more advanced and efficient work practices
- Takes initiative to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and recognizes when to escalate issues or coordinate with specialists to ensure task completion
- Participates in quarterly, bi-annual, and annual inspections of all PCC assets properties; participates in inspections, maintenance, repairs, and support service of environmental, fire, safety, and health and safety equipment and systems
- Submits electronic timesheets. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks. Performs data entry for computerized maintenance and purchasing management system as required
- Monitors inventory of supplies, tools, equipment, and materials and provides input to campus Facilities leadership to ensure adequate stock and operational readiness
- Provides district-wide coverage, as assigned, during personnel shortages, absences, and periods requiring additional Facilities staffing
- Collaborates with leadership by following direction and maintaining respectful, professional communication in customer interactions
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor
